my edc folding knife

As I mentioned, I have an EDC knife I really like, but was looking to swap it out and try something else. It got me to thinking I’d like to say a few words about my current EDC folding knife…

A few years ago I managed to lose my Benchmade Griptilion. It was a tragic and sad loss, but it had a happy side: I got to go out knife shopping – something I REALLY enjoy doing.

I searched the internet and local retailers, collecting information and looking at various knives to consider for replacement. After a few weeks I chose a Kershaw RAM 1910 to be my daily folding knife. Let me say I am not displeased with it.

I’ve been carrying it daily for probably close to 3 years now. I’ve done just about everything I might need a cutting edge for with it, and it’s taken to these tasks well. After all this time it is still in really good shape. The blade is still sharp as hell and needs minimal touch ups. The HAWK lock system on it still locks securely and by the way is a very convenient locking system for one handed operation.

My favorite part is the deployment of the blade. It uses a flipper and is not spring assisted, but the mechanism was designed in such as way that a quick press on the flipper causes the blade to rotate out almost as fast as an assisted knife.

As far as I can tell this particular model is not in production anymore but it can still be found online at various knife retailers and through Amazon and Ebay. They are worth every penny.
